WALTER STRAPPS
It is with much sadness that Le Tour has learned that long-time Suttoner Walter Strapps passed away September 11, 2007 in Vancouver, BC, where he had recently moved to be closer to his family.

Ron Gilker had these words to say about Walter:
« I met Walter Strapps soon after I came to Sutton in July 1978. Walter made an impression on me. He radiated positive energy which vented through his intense eyes, a little smile (almost a smirk), and an almost constant (sometimes annoying) habit of whistling. I really got to know the man in 1980 when he rented a small space from me next door to Café Mocador. From this location, he operated a bookstore, “The Book Nook”, with his partner Betty. In 1985, Walter, André Camille and I combined our efforts in an attempt to organize a Chamber of Commerce for all the merchants of Sutton.
Walter was a very intelligent man with a crackling wit. I particularly enjoyed his straight-talking attitude. He was, in a way, a rebel. Walter was not the individual who would do or say whatever was thought to be “politically correct”. You always knew where you stood with Walter.
Congratulations, Walter, for being an honest, contributing, hard-working, enterprising, good human being. Now that your spirit has passed through this earthly phase of its journey and has put aside its earthly costume, it is free to move on. »
Le Tour offers its condolences to his family and friends.
